I read the SF Gateway version of the Elric stories, totalling six books and somewhere over 2,000 pages. I never expected, after reading Elric’s backstory, that his universe would have some kind of connection to the ‘real’ world. The Melniboneans even have free access to our world (kinda?) through their dream couches, and Elric lived out a crazy dream life in 1940s Europe fighting Hitler, of all people.
